Mission: Crossing Over
Location: Security Office
Timeline: MD 37 || 0900 Hours

Still slightly fuming, but not nearly as much as she had been when she had gone to see the Captain, Camila headed back to her office in Security and announced a meeting for all Alpha Shift Security personnel and her Assistant Chief as well. She grabbed a PADD and started making notes on it as she headed to the main area of Security to away for the others to show.

Several officers and enlisted drifted in and gave her nods or greetings before they found seats and waited for everyone else to show up. The ones present had their memories back, but there were still a lot more to go that didn't and the only thing anyone could do was wait for Medical to get everyone restored.

Shay was already present, sitting down at one of the consoles inside the complex, turning away from it the second the Chief arrived and announced there was going to be a meeting. "Morning, Chief," she said, grateful that her memory had been restored, even if it hadn't happened that long ago.

"Good morning....Mitchell," Camila said after a moment as her memory provided the name of the other officer after a moment. "Help yourself to the replicator if you want coffee or something before we start."

"I'm okay," the young woman said, offering Camila a smile.

Petty Officer Miller could remember a lot more now than even thirty minutes ago. Things had started to come back slowly, but recently it was like a force field went down and the whole Pacifica flooded in. He strode into the Security Office in his normal manner and nodded to the Chief. "Morning Lieutenant." Then he paused. When he saw Camila, another memory rushed in. One of a birthday party near a lake with a cliff to dive from. He grinned widely and then moved to lean against one of the walls.

"Mister Miller, is it?" Camila asked as the bulky enlisted officer came in and made himself at home. "Thank you for coming. That means you remember who you are at the very least."

"It is," he replied. "Petty Officer Third Class Allen Miller. You're welcome, Ma'am. More things are starting to come back to me. It's like they hit all of a sudden when triggered."

Lt. Jg Catherine Cooper walked in, holding a PADD. She'd been one of the later ones to get her memories back and it still had a few holes but it was less swiss cheesy than before. At one point more memories kicking in and she'd had to spend time just sitting still while her brain basically tried to redownload itself. She almost felt back to normal, though her mind was quieter than it had ever been. She noticed a few personnel talking and rather than interrupt leaned against a desk to wait.

Jazmin entered Security, ready to work. She saw the others gathered and smiled. "Good morning everyone," she nodded to Camila, "Good morning Chief."

She headed to the replicator. "Espresso, recipe Parks 23." The machine whirred and a small cup of steaming black liquid that looked to be on the verge of mud appeared. Without hesitation she downed the liquid and returned the cup to the machine and hit the recycle control. As it disappeared, she found an empty chair and sat down, crossing her leg and waiting.

"Thank you all for coming," Camila said. "I've been looking over reviews and I really like what I see so far. However, with the fact that we're now in unexplored space, I want everyone to practice drills and improve your accuracy on the phaser range. We've been boarded once and they tried to take us and have demonstrated that they're willing to die other than be captured. That means they'll be willing to kill if they can't take up. No officer is to go on patrol alone, so pick a partner on your shift and stay with them at all times."

Jazmin nodded. "Affirmative, Chief. May I also recommend every security personnel carry a Type-1 holdout phaser concealed on their person, if we find ourselves cut-off from the armory or our sidearms get taken, it might just be a life-saver?"

Shay looked thoughtful for a moment before speaking. "Considering what's happened with the entire crew losing their memories, and how long it's taking for everyone to regain them, it might not be a bad idea to begin cross training with other departments, everyone... not just department heads... to help move things along should something like this happen again," the young woman stated. "I know there are people on board the ship who are capable of handling a phaser, but at this juncture, I think phaser training should be mandatory."

She paused momentarily to allow that to sink in, then continued. "My logic... this ship is bigger than her namesake was, and while we have more personnel in our department, we're still spread way too thin in times of crisis. With proper training in the basics, we can pull people from other departments to help out if the need ever arises." Now, she waited to see what everyone else would think about that. Most departments had the ability to help out in cases like ones they'd just encountered, and if it meant more protection, then it wasn't a bad thing. Of course, she wasn't the one who made those calls. That would fall at the feet of the Chief, Commander Teixeira and Captain Geisler. All she could do was present them.

Camila nodded at the suggestions. "Type II phasers are better and have more charges," she responded to Parks before she looked at Shay. "And that's a good idea. I know that all the department heads and Command were trained, but getting everyone certified is certainly something we should do. How about you, Cooper? Miller?"

"Oh I'm already trained and certified, Lieutenant," said Miller, a half grin on his face. "But I'd be glad to help with some of the others and their Type II certifications."

Catherine replied, "I am current as well Chief but I never turn down the chance to train or to help on the range. Always room for improvement, especially in light of the current memory situation." She paused, "If I might suggest, if scheduling could be worked out may be a thought to have everyone re-certify just to be safe." Cooper suggested.

Camila sighed at Miller and looked at Cooper. "We were talking about the rest of the ship's crew," she said. "If anyone in Security isn't certified by now, then I'll eat my shoe. I'll find out who's certified and who isn't and make a list for everyone to be assigned to."

Cooper still thought everyone getting re-certified was a good idea but said nothing more about it, she mentally reviewed her choice of words. Then giving herself a mental sigh she continued, "If nothing else it will hopefully get everyone more familiar with them so they won't accidentally shoot themselves in an emergency."

"I agree with the Chief, Cooper. I know things have been crazy around here, but everyone knows that they need to log a certain number of hours at the range. We shouldn't have to worry that anyone in security ls lacking certification, especially now that we're in potentially hostile space.

As far as cross training with other departments, all officers should remember at least some of their Academy classes that would allow them to jump in where needed. But, I believe that's an issue for the XO to handle. I would suggest everyone here taking a proactive stance and brushing up on those skills. Perhaps each shift running some group simulations in the holodeck so that each team could handle the Hawk in case primary crewmembers are incapacitated?"

Cooper nodded her understanding and said in agreement, "We have some holodeck training scenarios it shouldn't be too hard to modify them with the details we're looking to review."

"That's an issue for me to handle," Camila said. "And we can't carry phasers around the clock unless it's a wartime setting or we're under General Quarters Four. I'll find out who isn't up to date and make a schedule, then assign groups to the most qualified Security personnel to get them up to speed. Any questions?

Cooper shook her head, "No Chief." after thinking a moment.

"Very well," Camila said. "Since no one else has anything, get back to your posts."

"Yes, Chief," Shay said, turning back to the console she'd been working on prior to the meeting, but she found herself turning again to look at Camila once more. "I know I've already said it once, but I feel the need to say it again. It's good to have you back." And with that, she turned to resume her duties once more.

"You got, El-Tee," replied Allen. He gave a nod and headed back to the armory, considering who he'd partner up with.
